Just curious if anyone had had any experience with this?

Took the eligibility quiz there and (assuming I would have gotten a basic pass at the IELTS basic English test) it seems I qualify for express entry.

Does anyone know what that entails as regards time limits or what have you?

When you complete the test it gives you a reference number and advises you create an account etc. but I was only sussing it out a bit and didn't want to go through will all that just yet.

It may say that you qualify for express entry but that does not necessarily mean that you will have enough points to get selected from the pool. Qualifying for EE only means that you can enter the pool. You currently need about 450 points to get selected. There is a points calculator here

Unofficially, according to that link, I have 444 points. Pretty much sums it up for me. :(

Thanks for the tip, i'll have a go now and see how I get on.

    Did you manage it yourself?

Unfortunately that calculator was way off for me. No hopes on my current points but my bf's job have agreed to apply for a LMIA to increase the points (he's in a trade and there currently are no companies/organizations to have trades assessed). Fingers crossed.

I'm getting a small bit confused, but someone might be able to clear it up for me.

If one was offered a job, would it be better to apply for EE or FSW visa. Or is it all one and the same now?

Edit: I asked the same question before, but for anyone who's interested: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=88622754

I'm not sure i'm afraid, though it seems a job offer is almost a guarantee of acceptance judging by the points calculator for EE anyway.

Not correct. A job offer in itself is not enough to get the points for EE, it needs to be supported by an LMIA to get the points.

FSW is a stream within EE. EE is the process of getting PR, but to be able to apply for EE you need to qualify for one of the streams (FSW or CEC).

I see. On further reading it seems that could be difficult alright. I was basing my comment above on the calculator and when I put in that I had a job offer it shot up about 450 points or something.

An ideas on what the criteria are or how that decision is made? I.e. does it what impacts a successful application for a LMIA do you know?

LMIA is it's own process. It requires an employer to widely advertise a position for a minimum of 4 weeks and then to indicate why any Canadian residents/PR holders that applied were not suitable for the position. It also costs the employer $1000 (even if the LMIA is refused).

Manitoba buddy in the electrical sector.

Cool cheers. Is it a particularly specialist area you work in or are qualified in that may have made a difference for the lmia?

I only ask since I'm in IT but I don't expect there would be a particularly specialist set of skills I have that couldn't be satisfied by a native. That would be the main concern I have of getting one.

I'm the same as you, though I got a buddy to pass my CV to his boss who reckoned I'd swing a job easily enough in my area in BC.
Now that I've read he above post as well, I can see that I'd be looking at roughly $2K for the process. What would the costs be broken down as roughly?
I'd be slow to hand over $2K with no job offer though. A risk worth taking?

Hey this is a breakdown of the fees I have paid.

Express entry processing fee 550 (this must be paid when you submit online application)

Then there is right of PR fee 490(this can be paid upfront when you submit application or you can wait till they request it off you)

Celpip English Test -265 (this must be done before you submit application)

Canadian Medical Upfront Non EDE Worker-330 (this also must be done before you submit application.)

It all depends on your age and experience without being noisy or rude. I love this country so much i can see myself living here forever i cant recommend it enough. just depends on what you want no everyone like it but i sure do.

Just a question on this. The IELTS is sufficient from what I can see?

I'm almost 37 and very interested in moving to Canada. Apart from the EE process, are there any specific websites or companies that assist in applying for work from Ireland? I'm aware due to my age my score for the EE will be a bit lower...My background is HR.

I just got my PR last week.

I was sponsored by my company so that helps a lot. But it took about 5 months in total.

How does the company sponsorship work?
