So in my E - business module I have to come up with an idea for a website hat in theory I could make money from and that has a social aspect to it where users will engage with each other.

One idea I have is to write about a fitness site where people can sign up and find running group or any type of group, cycling, walking, swimming etc that is in their area. The idea is for users to meet new people and make friends while getting fit. I always see women in groups power walking..maybe a woman would like to find a group of other women to join in with etc.
There would be a private section for each group to organise tines and places and all sorts out things that only members of the group can see.

There could be all sorts of features like uploading your GPS route and others can take that route then rate it.
Boot Camp groups could form aswell as boxersize where people meet up in a park to do it together.

The revenue aspect..well advertisements would be on the site and maybe there could be a store section with all types of fitness gear as the site would be kind of aimed at newbies just getting into it all whom have nobody to workout with.
Also fitness instructors who do boot camp classes could advertise o the site for a fee.

Maybe it would turn out to be a successful project in my module or maybe I'm clutching at straws. I'm hoping for some feedback. Remember that it's just a make believe site and I just have to form an idea and a business plan etc on paper. I guess it's not unique but it's an idea that probably sounds better in my head.

My experience is that most recently clubs, certainly Tri and cycling clubs, are using Pro Boards to facilitate updates and discussions. I've seen a couple of cases were they have moved from driving this through Facebook etc to these board sites.

I see Facebook, flickr and Twitter used for promoting photos etc and to give updates and times maybe.

The general routes that are used in terms of GPS are saved on Strava, map my run or map my ride. They simply point to these courses one they're up there. Strava has a function which lets you follow a club and then see every public activity of that club had published.

    Good luck!

I think there's a niche there, it's all there but quite often it's a bit scattered.

People are doing idea that are being done by fb also. So I dont really think it's got to be majorly unique. I think I'll go with it. It's nut that big of a project.
