Hi People. Got offered a job in Donnybrook. Good news! I was wondering about getting there avoiding tolls. Commercial rate €4.30 e/w per day! All adds up. Is it much longer to go the old road or just suck it up and pay toll and not eat on a sunday!? Pros and cons. Thanks all in advance!

Have you consider the Train or Bus?

I would say go with the old road and just plan your journey around the timing of that route then.

I have tools et al to bring with me. Public transport not really an option.

Carpool would be great but I would require the van as D'brook would be a base as such, but would be travelling around the town to different locations. Thank you

Old road is grand. Very straight and easy to overtake if you do get stuck behind something.

Yes, it's often easy to overtake on the wide stretches, the only problem is that on most of it the speed limit is 80 kph because it's an 'R' road (R148).

I often use the old road but that's at weekends and it's grand even though Enfield can be a PITA. OP, just try it and see how you get on, that's the only way to find out.
