Would this diet be good enough to give ewes prior to lambing?

70% barley 30% oats and molasses

There wouldn't be enough protein, you need 18% P in a ewe ration in the last 3 - 4 weeks, also a good mineral mix. The mix you're suggesting there might be good enough for the singles.....might

I don't know much about rations, you're improving the protein there with the beans, but I don't know their value for sheep, best source of protein for sheep is the hi, grade soya, I'd guess that ration to be about 13-- 14%P, someone might be along that'd work it out properly

They price of properly blended 18% ewe and lamb ration has fallen a good bit in the last year or so. it's running at €270 a tonne around here anyway. At that price You'd have to question if it's really worth the effort in going and buying the bits and pieces separately and mixing, unless your a tillage farmer and can grow your own for cheap.

You will lose mucles to fast, if u lack in proteins. I would contact a diet specialist in that case. It is important to lose weight healthy

A guy i worked for used a 50%barley 50%oats small bit of soya and minerals. Mixed it himself with the bucket of digger. Worked well. Be carefull when youre feeding it cos its lighter than the mixed rations you get and you can overfeed it.
