I'm doing a PhD with mine, had some short jobs in pharmaceutical QC and water testing labs.

Besides diagnostic labs there's research, sales reping, product/technology specialist, quality control / assurance in industrial labs, etc, etc. The degree is only a qualification, it doesn't pigeon hole you into one career for life. People have gone into journalism, purchasing, management, etc with biomed qualifications.
