Bit on The George Hook Show about six day working with shorter working days, apparently it's much more productive.
Commuting would be an issue but a six hour day would be a dawdle, plus some free time when things are actually open.
    Good idea yeah?
    Bad idea neigh?

No. What we need is a four day working week. Like they're trialling in is it Sweden? That's more productive.

I think a four day working week is a much better idea. That way you can do your 10 or 11 hours a day and then have three days to yourself to do whatever you like.
If it was a six day week then you would need to be working at least 7 hours a day so you might as well do an eight hour day. Thats only three hours over a normal working day anyway.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Had today off myself, there's a lot to be said for a 3 day weekend.

I'm lucky enough in that I can work time up and take it off later. Enjoy the job but there's nothing like a bit of downtime at the end of every month.

It also reduces fuel consumption & pollution from vehicles for the commute by 20%.
I genuinely dont care about that, I just want the extra day off, but Im sure some would be pleased with it.

Work Sunday to Friday and still have your Saturday lie in.

Well I had school on Saturday in secondary school and I hated it at the time so put me down as an against.

it's a no from me too - I'd proably end up working a long day on the 6th day as well (in regards to the type of work I do) - i also like having two days off together.

    Feck that.
I leave for work at 9am and get home around 3.30/4.00(PM!)
And you expect me do that 6 days a week instead of 5??

I worked shift for my college placement during the summer 12 hours a day 7am-7pm 7 out of 14 days working 5 days one week 2 the next every second weekend on. I though it was great you get used to it after about a month it can be good having days of during the week if you need to go to the bank etc etc. Pity my graduate job will be Monday to Friday but sure I'll get used to that too. They both have their pros and cons. I wouldn't be mad about doing 6 shorter days though you need at least two days off a week to clear your head from work IMo.

Lengthen the week to 9 days and I'll work 6 day weeks.

Isnt the point that you would now have an EVERY day lie in? :)
I'd much prefer four 10 hour days tbh

I think I vary greatly. I am on flexi time and I love it. I can work to my rhythms. I have to get paid less because of it - but I accept the hit.

Once I do my 35 hours it does not matter how I do it. If I am hyper and can not sleep and I do 24 hours straight - thats ok. If I work 5 hours a day for 7 days that is ok too.

A little like you I tend to work longer sometimes. I prefer - when I can - to do a 4 day week of 12 hours a day. Carry over the extra hour and take a half day every so often.

But as they say "mileage may vary" and I think we can be quite literal on that. Anyone with a significant commute is going to hate the idea of a commute. Whereas someone who lives next door to work would love to absorb those hours into their work day.

    Feck that!

Cost you more to travel to work for 6, rather than 5 days and your weekly hours stay the same. I want the wages in my purse not someone elses.

I cycle to work where I can - so better the money in my purse and not the gym I might otherwise be a member of :)

As I said above - the utility of such a structure will be largely about location location location.

Some of us work for 7 days a weeks, the dairy cows don't take the weekends off...but once they and myself are healthy that is all that matters.

You may file the idea of a change to the Monday to Friday working week under "Things That Are Never Gonna Happen."

But feel free to continue fantasising.

Same as others 4 x 10 hour days would be much better

It will be an incentive for the people on the rock and roll to go back working.
