Basically there are a few small things my car needs to have it perfect and I want to start sorting them over the next 6 months or so. So I just want to get an idea of cost difficulty for a few of these jobs. The car is a Renault Megane 1.5dci 90bhp euro 5 2011. Any help would be much appreciated.

    1. Gearbox oil there is 130k km on the car now and nothing wrong with the gearbox. But it is very slightly notchy now I mean slight but at the same time what's the story with gearbox oil is it recommended to change it easy job to do not that I'll be doing it but more so for cost is what I'm looking for.

    2. One issue it has is in 3rd and more so 5th when you accelerate and lift of the gearstick moves slightly forward and back. I read somewhere that engine mounts can cause this is that true anyway to tell ? Is that a big expensive job to do as it seems like a lot of work to replace them.

    3. Timming belt on the euro 5 engine is due 5 years 150k km so I'll have to do that next year. Again are they easy difficult to do a belt on in terms of cost I assume it needs water pump as well.

    4. Is it as big as a job as it seems to do pollen filter I know you have to take of clutch pedal but some say leave sensor connected others say don't. I might leave that one to the garage to do as I'll be getting it services January ish.

If anyone has any advice comment on any / all of the questions it would be great.

2 is engine mount at bottom back of engine accessible from underneath. It was a cheap fix on older megan and easy to change.

3 cost is more labour than parts so best get quote from garage. Yes replace water pump as it's recommended change with belt

    1. Nothing special about changing the gearbox oil, very straightforward.

    2. They are all like that, check the engine mount but it is probably fine.

    3. Timing belt kit, water pump, aux belt and coolant about €350. Renault recommend replacing the aux belt tensioner as well but they are usually fine TBH.

    4. Horrible job. Just horrible.

Nice one thanks george. How much would I be looking at for gearbox oil change roughly ?

As a standalone job about €50. As an add-on to another job where the car was already on the lift with covers etc removed then €40-ish.
