Am I being scammed? Ali-Express

I ordered an item from Ali Express on 25/08. It's now 28/09 and it's not arrived.

I opened a dispute and the seller said to check with my local post office. I used the tracking code provided but this is not recognised by An Post online (which I keep being directed to). Each parcel should be scanned upon arrival in Ireland right?

    What should I do?

Have used them 4 or 5 times in general stuff does seem to take about 4 weeks to get here, the longest for me was 12 weeks...I never had any luck with using the tracking codes...Anything I order from them would be usually under 20 euros worth so never was overly concerned if they arrived or not.

ya stuff takes ages you will probably also get hit for tax (import) if the item is large.

try www.17track.net instead but tracking is hit and miss tbh. All items are NOT scanned on entry to Ireland. Some are, it depends on what way the seller has sent it. Delivery is typically 4 - 6 weeks average

I have ordered lots of items from Aliexpress and only one did not arrive. I received a refund within 4 days so I have no complaints. It can take up to 45 days for some orders so I very much doubt that you are being scammed.

I thought AliExpress worked on the basis that all items are sent by registered post and the seller doesn't get paid until an item is delivered? I have waited 6 weeks for items to arrive, I wouldn't worry yet!

Not all items are sent registered. Some stuff can be sent for as little as 20c for eg. They rely on the good nature of people for low value items in a lot of cases. I'd say the vast majority are sent registered however.

as a postie who both delivers and orders plenty from ali and dx i can say the cheap stuff is usually not registered ,say under 8 euros worth... the rest is usually registered and would be scanned into irish system upon arrival in ireland

Even that you ordered on the 28th the item might not be posted for a few days after, if you logon on the website you can see when it was posted, but as others said it takes minimum 4 weeks, so it's not too late.

Anpost can track items in the format AA11111111CN , if they use Yanwen or some other providers tracking number probably will not work in the anpost website.

OP you should be able to track the item from the aliexpress app or website, click on 'sellers shipping method' which should be highlighted in blue. That should bring you to the website of the courier company the seller uses. You can track it from there. Everything I have ordered from aliexpress was traceable within China, international tracking not so much.

    It says:
In 4 days 8 hours Purchase Protection will end. Purchase Protection is a specified time from which you can open a dispute case to protect your purchase. Purchase Protection differs according to the shipping terms you chose. Once Purchase Protection ends, your purchase will be automatically finalized.

I've opened a dispute with the seller who is investigating and 'should know in a week's time'.

The tracking hasn't been updated in quite a while.

    What should I do?
