The dept agri minimum specification for buildings is a good place to start.

It depends on your farm tbh. Personally im a big fan of the straw bed shed.
    These are my reasons why:
    1. Cattle come on much better in straw sheds than the Slats. (More comfort and much warmer)
    2. You dont have to worry about spreading slurry out on land especially if your land is wet.
You just have to dump the dung outside and that is that.

I would spread the dung out in fields i plan to reseed.
The only draw back of the straw bed is the cost of straw.

However, if you have good land and you could spread the slurry even in wet weather then the slatted shed would be fine.
