Hi folks have a 2014 civic diesel and I notice most mornings when I get to the top of the road when I go to take off I get a slippage.. It feels almost like wheel spin but I don't think it could be.. Its very slight but still feels weird.. Only happens at morning start and never after a few minutes driving. I'm not flooring the acceleration.. Just wondering if anyone else has this or would it be something worth talking to honda about? Only 13 months old so lots warranty left etc..

    Cheers
    Mick

Take it in, Thats what warranties are for.

A clutch will generally only be covered under warranty if it has been found to have prematurely failed as a result of a defective part otherwise it is considered a wear and tear part.

Open both front windows next time, and turn the radio off.

It's normal. Cold / damp air will contaminate the friction material on the clutch. After you drive it a bit the friction material warms and grips properly. What your hearing is the clutch slipping and you get the judder.

I'll talk to the garage but it would be one of those that's very difficult to reproduce

It is just first thing in morning

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. You will probably need to leave the car overnight for the garage to see it and even so they will probably tell you it's normal behaviour.

Try and get a loan of another one and see if it does the same.

Sounds like the dual mass flywheel is on the way out. I had the same symptoms on two previous cars. Slipping clutch when cold. It's the start of the problem. The flywheel vibrates causing the clutch to slip especially when cold the clutch plate has less grip. Both need replacing. Cost €1000-1200 parts and fitting.

Wow that's expensive but I doubt that what it is.. on a 13 month old car? I've looked around and apparently its a civic symptom - clutch judder when cold.. it never ever happens apart from first thing in the morning..

I'll run it by the dealer to get their view on it.

    Cheers,
    Mick

Hopefully I'm wrong. If it's a common problem it's a design flaw. Maybe the have an upgraded clutch available or one from a different manufacturer Lucas, LUK, etc
