studying animation?

    Hi, I'm in sixth year and currently looking into studying animation in college. I was looking into a one-year course in Cork, but anyway.

    Two things: I'm leaning more towards teaching than actually working as an artist, but personally, I'm more interested in cartoon illustration and comic art (although I guess I'd be quite happy to study fine art or the like.) Reguarding the 4-year degrees in IADT, Ballyfermot, ect: is it possible to do a HDIP in art & design with an animation degree? And if I was looking into more comic art/illustration than animation itself, is animation still my best bet? I've seen it said that the focus is more on animation than drawing in these course.
