One of my slurry pits is accessed off a passage way behind the shed. WAnt to put down a slab of concrete in front of it so that when I jump on and off the tractor my boots aren't collecting muck (and nearly slipping on it another year) from the dirty passage and it falling off in the tractor cab.

its a 2000 gallon tankers which would be going over it. What is the right ratio of sand to cement for this as I was going to mix it myself with a pto mixer I have. I know must will say get a lorry but I have the days long to get it done. also how thick would I want to go- 5 inches?

You'll need about 30 Newton, try here.

What size slab are you doing? 1m3 of concrete will take close to 2.25 tonne of gravel. The thought of shovelling all that into a mixer would bring me out in a cold sweat. I'd look for a Pan mixer and tractor and loader if its a diy job. You'd have an evenly mixed load and no bad back.

I'd say its definitely a pan mixer job and most lads will need to go hire one.. At that stage you're as well just get it mixed and delivered..

Most lads would be better spend their time on levels and ground prep.. poor levels and prep would eat up a half cubic meter of stuff which would in itself make up the cost of getting it from the quarry. And to carry tanks I'd think you'll definitely need steel mesh to be sure..

Ground prep is important but it's also time consuming. Sometimes half a meter extra will work out cheaper than spending a day leveling the base or getting a digger.

Also do up your cost of sand and gravel, bags of cement ect. This varies alot and it might work out the same or cheaper to order in a bottle. And reduce the labour. I had about 7.5 meters to do last week. Ton bags of sand gravel mix ranged between €35 to €50 and bulk was €20 delivered, bag of cement €4.

2 ton of gravel €40, 10 bags of cement €40
Bottle of 35n €70 per meter.
