My Aldi Silver Crest Free to Air box has finally given up!
I was given Sky+ HD Box by a relation in Fermanagh, North of Ireland, could I use this here in the Republic, with my original satellite dish and cable, to get free to air UK channels??
    Don't know where to start?
    Many thanks
    Orlaith.

It should work as a free to air receiver, with the UK channels first as against Irish channels first. Just connect to sat cable, you won't have record/ pause functions without subscription, but you should have fta channels. Put the fta channels on favourites button, makes selection a bit easier.

Hi yes it will work for the FTA channels but you will need to put it into single feed mode if you have only one coax feed from the dish to do this press services then settings then 0 0 1 select which will give you the engineer settings use the bottom arrow to highlight single feed mode and switch it on then select and then the Sky button but make sure the coax is going into Lnb 1.

Is there any way of knowing from looking at the card if it's an Irish or UK card?

    Thanks again

Easiest way would be to connect up the box and see what channels are available at the start with the card in/out.

Unlike the box which belongs to your uncle to do what he likes with, the card is the property of sky and cannot be passed to you.

For your info, my uncle left me his property and contents when he died, so I don't have any intention of using the card, only the Box to get FTA

Your help was so much appreciated and I have successfully connected everything and I now have liftoff!!
As there are so many channels on the Planner / TV Guide that I cant use, firstly can I delete those at all?
Secondly, how can I select Favourites and save them? Can't figure it out!!
    Many thanks
