Recently started a new part-time job. 18 y/o. Employers said that they'd start me and another new guy off on a "training wage". I presumed this would be minimum wage and we'd slowly get more (employer said we could get raises very quickly with hard work). Got paid on Friday... turns out this "training wage" is 7 euro an hour..

    Is that legal? :/

Yep!! I think €6.92 is the minimum for 18 year olds within the first year of a contract

This from the Citizens Information website
I take you get €6.92 per hour and not exactly €7.00 am I right ?

I didn't sign a contract though? Does that make any difference?

Makes no difference it's your first year working over 18 you have to be paid at least 6.92

So you are being paid a tiny bit more than Min. Wage for your age

Yep that's the reality of the minimum wage. It assume you have a minimum of 2 years experience.

Assuming a 39 hour week, the OP would be entitled to €273 per week. At that level, they would pay very little tax. They would probably come out with €268 nett.

Most 18 years olds would only be entitled to €100 per week in Jobseeker's Allowance. However, if they live at home, that would be reduced.
