Hi looking for advise. Were looking at a nice house in a housing estate in Athenry in Galway.
Only thing is the houses are on gas but not natural gas.
There's bulk tanks in the estate and everyone is metered off that.
Iv heard this can be quiet expensive as were used to being on natural gas.
We have the option of fitting a stove to the house also.

Would this system put people off or how is gas prices twords oil? People used to complain a lot years back about it but not much info in the last year or 2.

You really need to get taking to whoever runs this scheme and to one or two householders there. There should be good prices to be had buying in bulk like that, but it might be all tied up in an expensive contract.
Do your research. Ask about costs per litre and any standing charges and management charges.
If you want, post your results here if you need comment on it.

Has anyone else any advise on heating a house on LPG. We're worried it's going to be very expensive. We've a deposit given on the house but it's very hard find any info in recent years on the cost of lpg heating. Years ago people said its expensive but is this still the case or has it come down.

Take a look at the domestic fuel cost comparison on the SEAI.ie website . See link above.

    Came here to suggest this.

And OP, if needs be you can hear DHW electrically at night rate if needs be at least

What's the BER of the house, and you can judge its cost of bills from that (ish)

    SO pretty good score.

The kWh figure per square metre on the cert gives an indication of how much energy per year you roughly will consume for heating, ventilation, hot water & lighting (basically the building services - excludes discretionary things such as phone chargers, TVs, cookers etc.)

Approx (and a very rough rule of thumb) 2/3 of that figure is your heat use (for space heating &hot water). If you take the kWh figure, get 2/3 of it, and multiply it by the floor area of the house, it should give you your heating kWh requirement.

Using Cerco's link, you can multiply that by the kWh cost for bulk LPG 9.94cent to get a rough ide of your costs. Within a reaosnable 20%-30% tolerance of reality. But should give you a guide.
