Heading away with the OH

This came up the other day.

How soon is too soon to head off on hols with an OH? Would you differentiate between weekends away in Ireland, abroad, sun holidays etc? Is people's reluctance down to you killing each other, other peoples perception or what?

Imagine spending a whole week(end) entirely in the company of your girlfriend.

If this feels ok, then go for it.
If you don't feel entirely comfortable with the idea, then wait a bit.

    There's no particular time limit.

No flies on you pal ;) I've no used underwear at the moment, it's all in the wash... PM me your address or shall I just leave it outside the door?

I don't know the rules anymore (okay, I never knew them) but I'd recommend only a weekend break in Ireland at first. If it turns into a disaster, it's easier to escape get home, but if it goes well, it'll give you an idea of how long you could manage with her.

If you have a girlfriend why are you on Tinder?

I don't - This is a general discussion not "Please Ellie tell me when I can go abroad with my girlfriend"

The thinly veiled comment is a long running AH thing

I think it all depends on the couple and how comfortable they are with each other. If you're going out for a couple of months but you are staying over a lot and you're quite comfortable being seen without make up or whatever, then I don't see what's wrong with going away for a weekend or for a holiday. If you've been going out for a few months though and you haven't really stayed over a lot or you wouldn't be comfortable doing certain things in front of your OH, then maybe wait a bit.

For me, it wouldn't have anything to do with other peoples' perceptions, but just how comfortable I am with the other person.

Exactly! My mother says I'm a total catch. Any day now, she says.

The doctors said the hunchback would hold me back... look at me now!

If it's Tinder you're dependent on then no point asking as the rules will have changed by the time you get around to it.

It all depends on the couple. There are no rules or protocols for this. When you're all grown up and actually have a girlfriend you'll know yourself.

Another KO from a hardy keyboard warrior. Ill PM you when I do grow up and stop banging your mum long enough to get one.

    I suppose if you're explaining, you're losing

You totally lost me there. My mother died in 1975.

    My condolences.

That implies you're a grown up, which doesn't reflect your post. Nor does mine:pac:

Grown up? I'm half dead. 71 last birthday and into a second childhood. I find you have to talk like a child when talking to a child at times. :)
