Anyone have a ball-park figure to paint new house labour only as I'll be supplying paint.

I've a new house I need painted, new plaster, never painted before.

    House is 2500 sq. ft.

    House consists of:

2 sitting rooms, downstairs hallway, large kitchen, conservatory, back hallway, 5 bedrooms, upstairs hallway, 4 bathroom ceilings, small walk-in wardrobe.

I want all ceilings in white, walls primed in white and then 2 top coats of colour, each room has a feature wall in different colour.

17 doorways (doors not being painted), so caulking of all architrave. 3 coats on all architrave, skirting and door frames. Also 3 coats on 24 window boards.

I'm supplying the paint so I'll be getting a painter doing labour only.

Anyone have a guess as to what the price will be and roughly how long it will take a painter on his own?

Wow, didn't think it would be that price. Thought maybe around 3,000eur maximum. But if that's the price then fair enough, I know it's a lot of work to be done. Would 4 weeks be enough time I wonder for a painter?

They'll do a 2500 sq ft house in 3 days. 4 grand is about right though IMO

3 days :eek: No spraying!! Don't like it, I see drips running down walls in few friends houses. It'd have to be brush & roller only.

Thats with a brush and a roller. If get a good painter an decorator they dont hang about, they've plenty of other jobs to be doing and they know how to minimise waiting around for paint to dry! ;)

if they got it done in 7 days I think they'll have worked hard. absolute mountain of work involved there for one person. don't know about another posters opinion of 3 days. impossible to do imo.
think about it theres a solid days work in just sanding the woodwork , caulking and doing any filling that's required, a very solid days work. could certainly get it done a little cheaper more like 3000 seems about right. Like I've advised other posts before go with a recommendation for a painter from friends, family, work colleagues etc. gl with it all

I don't really expect a solo run for a 2500Sq ft house to be fair.

Not a hope in hell one painter could do all that in 7 days.
And yeah, 3k-4k would be about right.

Are all rooms going the same colour bar the feature walls?

Yeah, there's only 3 colours used. Ceilings white. Walls primed white, then a cream on all walls, with a dark colour on a feature wall in each room. Timber then gets 3 coats . I want to use an oil based undercoat, and white top coat waterbased.

Why do you want to use an oil undercoat then waterbased topcoat?

yeah 7 days is a bit short alright, what would you think 10? I suppose, did a 3 bed that involved the same work bar conservatory, back hallway, only 3 bathrooms but did include all bare doors and staircase and finished it in 6 days, depends on how long you work each day. mark anthony the o.p. mentioned A painter and to o.p. if going down the water based woodwork route use it as undercoat and get the oil based gloss, the water based gloss isn't fit for purpose imo
theres another thread regarding it and everyone has their own opinion but I'd strongly advise against it gl again
