I see that the catalogue for the October Premier sale is now up their site.
I couldn't help but notice that the well known herds like Ardlea,Elite, Roundhill etc don't have any bulls listed. If they don't sell through these sales, how do they sell? All private, is it?

The real good lads don't need to go to sales. The lad I bought my last limo off sells straight out of the yard all the time. There's a right bit of work getting a bull ready for a sale. By the time you account for grooming, training and your day down there you'd want another €500 on top of what you get out of the yard at least.

The real good breeders almost always have bulls in the premiere sales because it keeps there names out there and in the know, plus if they have a real good top quality bull in the sale they can get thousands more selling across the water than they could get in the yard. If they don't have bulls in the sale it's most likely because they did well from the yard or there holding on to the good one's for a bit longer. Time will only tell how this geonomics scheme effects bull sales and they could be holding out to see what happens.

I dunno about that. The society normally have a separate bull and heifer sale this time of year. This year they have only the one combined one. Heifer sales were slow the last few years. As far as I can see the country is full of pedigree cattle.

I've seen a few of the breeders selling across the water out of the yard. Once a name is built up lads will come to you, in saying that these are lads that really work hard at their breeding.

They work hard at there breeding is wright and fair play to them. Its the sales yards where they built there names up and its the sales yards where they'll keep there names going. I was talking to another breeder yesterday and he hasn't any bulls in roscray either but he was tight liped about why not. We have none in it this year but we will have in the spring.

I duno the reason for the migrated bull and heifer sale maybe it's for the British buyers so they don't have to make two trips I'm not sure. I would say the country is full of good pedigree cattle and when you have good heifers and cows you can breed away without buying in new stock. That could be why the heifer sales are down if there down.
