    Hi all,
Does anyone know if the refurbishment project has been completed?

I noticed that the Dublin-Belfast trains are showing 1st and 2nd class as well as restaurant car.

    Thanks

    No sets are completed yet.

There is an Irish Rail ICR set doing three return workings between Dublin and Belfast and that is the only train with 1st Class and full catering.

Do not purchase First Class on the route until the current refub is complete. It is a complete waste of money for the service provided unlike what was provided on the enterprise.

First refurbished trains returned to service this morning

Nothing too exciting to be honest.

On a side note, I wanted to see if their was any pricing discrepancies depending on if you book with Northern Irish railways vs Irish rail.

Seems that with NI Railways website, you can't book a single from Dublin to Belfast, but noticed a Belfast to Dublin return fare could be as little as £10 on many days (€14.30), the cheapest return I could get on the same day on Irish Rail was €34...

It's called the 'peace dividend' i.e. unlimited subsidy for public services in NI courtesy of Westminister. FG are closing Irish Rail's deficit which is next to nothing anyway.

Can I ask what exactly were you expecting given your "nothing too exciting" comment?

Guessing you didn't read the article so......

A transformation of the interior of the train, including seating; power sockets at every seat; plush carpets; new tables and lightings; new signage

    Who says I did not

Is there actually a power socket for each and every seat I think you will find there is not.

Did I also miss Wifi ? And decent wifi not Awful-G-Fi poopoo south of Portadown and north of Drogheda. Half-Assed should be the name, not Enterprise, i.e. something you can do business on.

Every single person on the train is not going to require a socket, but there are more than enough to go around.

I think you're getting a bit carried away with your negativity.

OK so all that time stuck up in refurb and you're not entitled to criticize ?

Poster called me out for not being clued in and I responded with accurate information.

The PR above is misleading; it is not a power socket for each and every seat , even in 1st

Phones and laptops normally want charging ; begging the next guy over for his socket is a PITA

Yes this is what you do on a 29k as well - so what

After 12.2 million or so for a 2015 revamp especially in first , and no-wi-fi ? Stop with the lovebombing here and lets look at reality.

BUT : Hopefully now I can stop asking the cleaner to open a panel so I can plug in the laptop , 2005 is calling it wants its problems back.

Nothing special just a lick of paint and new seat covers

The forever broken toilets were not replaced.
    Still the same seats
Still the horrible dark interior (might be fine for a sunny country like France but no good here)
Nothing was done to address the dodgy ride
Still have far too many first class seats while folks will stand in standard
Electronic reservation displays are great but we know they won't work half the time and Translink are still in the 1800's tech wise so can't book seats

And most of all we are still left with two railway companies ready to blame the other when it goes wrong

Of course people can criticise, but sometimes it just goes somewhat over the top.

    Fair point.

But lets me honest, the only thing that is going to increase the passenger usage of this line is faster trains (or lines capable of higher speeds, which I assume is the issue).
Otherwise they are never going to compete with the bus.

A bit more competitive Pricing from Irish Rails point of view wouldn't go a miss.
