    Have a bottle of Ernest & julio Gallo cabernet sauvignon dated 2004. Can i drink this or will it be poison??

    A quick google says it's 13.8% so might have some legs...

    Is it sealed with screwcap or cork? It would only be poison if it's "corked", and that should be immediately apparent with one sniff after opening... If it smells ok on opening, try to decant it for an 30-60 minutes before you plan to drink it.

    I read (on Decanter magazine!) that rinsing your decanter with a smidgeon splash of brandy is a good 'refresher' for tired old wines.

    If you don't have a proper decanter any kind of glass jug \ carafe can stand in.

    It may taste off but it won't do you any more harm than a new bottle would.
