    Hi all,

Had an early NCT and it failed for broken coil springs.

Rear Spring(56) Coil Spring Damaged/broken Offside front
Rear Spring(56) Coil Spring Damaged/Broken Nearside front
Rear Spring(56) Coil Spring Damaged/Broken Offside rear
Rear Spring(56) Coil Spring Damaged/Broken Nearside rear

I found springs on Micks Garage using the reg of the car, rear springs for €28 each and front for €32 each.

    Is this accurate?
how much might i be looking at for labour, i would imagine there is a bit of time involved changing four springs?

    Thanks!

How the hell did you break all four springs?

Anyway, ring garages and get quotes (labour and parts). You bringing your own springs will not make it particularly cheaper.

Car probably had the springs cut by the previous owner.

very unusual for all 4 to be broken, were they cut to lower the car?

prices seem in the right ballpark but it's hard to say without knowing the model of car. labour could be the guts of an hour a corner. might be quicker (possibly cheaper too) to pick up 4 complete strut setups from a scrapped car and fit them, as they will just bolt in without the messyness of compressing springs etc. only downside to this is they have an unknown history when you are going for an NCT.

I'd go to a mechanic first and let them source the parts. If their prices are off the wall you can ask for different brands etc.

As above,go to a reputable mechanic first and get a price. Job may not be a s attractive if you bring your own bits. What if they're wrong ? World of sh.t.. If he gets the wrong parts he can more than likely sort it out in a couple of hours. Also you will have to pay 23% vat to mick, only %13 to a garage..

    Thanks for the replies lads.
Don't know how all the springs are broken. It's not lowered or modified in anyway. Bog standard 06 Vectra saloon/hatchback family car. Bought from a simi dealership 4 years ago.

Reputable mechanic first, get multiple quotes. Gotcha.
