    Perhaps Jurys there?

Be wary if your bringing him over for a match or if there's a match on at the time... prices will be a lot higher!

It really depends on your budget OP and what your definition of a budget hotel would be. However I'd heed the advice of the poster above... Hotel prices rise dramatically if United are at home that weekend so if you are not going for a game best to ensure the dates don't clash with any to get the best rates. Some hotels that I have stayed in and found basic yet ok...

    Mercure (Picadilly)
    Premier Inn (Picadilly)
    Premier Inn (Portland St)
    Jury's Inn
    Ibis (Portland St)

If there isn't a game on you may be lucky with a cheap rate for one of the nicer hotels such as the McDonald or The Crowne Plaza....

I ve looked at the ibis seems grand and cheap enough, was going to book through booking.com, we will be going during a match time.

So if I book through booking.com, will the price stay the same or rise?

The Premier Inn Piccadilly is much nicer than the IBIS plus it's also close to a number of interesting pubs/clubs in the Northern Quarter.

That IBIS is really grim to be honest, the rooms actually feel like it's the inside of an automated toilet, you half expect when leaving to hear the whole thing flush itself!

If you do book the Premier Inn you'll get best price on their own website.

Another one I forgot is the Britannia Hotel. It's an extremely old fashioned hotel with a peculiar charm. Was once a glamorous 4 star hotel in the 60s and 70s hosting all the stars who'd come to the city. It just was never upgraded or looked after really since then But I wouldn't let it put you off... It also has some mind boggling cheap rates... And a decent residents lounge which you won't find in those chain hotels.

    any of the premier inns
I like premier inn central the most though as there are a few nice restaurants and pubs right beside it as well as the tram stop
can't really go wrong though with any of the city centre ones

We always stay in the premier inn, when we were there in May we stayed in the new Piccadilly one. Perfect location, always a great choice.

The MEN/printworks one is great too, close to the arndale and printworks obviously. We go to Manchester every year.

The Pendulum Hotel is a relatively nice budget hotel. Stayed there once. Fairly central on the south of the inner city. A walk to the trams that will bring you to/close to Old Trafford/Etihad are about a ten minute walk from there. It's close to Chinatown too.

I've stayed in The Gardens as the budget was tight at the time and the value for money was grand. Great value for money but i wouldn't expect anything from it and is about as central as you'd want. Not all rooms have windows....you pay extra for that! It's really basic but I ended up staying for two nights for £70 total, and that included breakfast too.
