depends on how much it costs, spec is very low. Usually people get gouged on these pre built pc's.

    It costs €600

    Specs are absolutely rubbish

    Seriously low end graphics card.

Ok I won't bother going with it I might try and build one myself could anyone link me to a beginners guide and what to do to get ready before building and stuff as I have very little knowledge of how to build PCs and what goes into it

About 350 euro too expensive. Look at mesh.co.uk for a prebuilt that not a total ripoff. Really a rubbish computer there, lowest of the low

Abysmal. If you can build it yourself get this case and this build from mindfactory:
    4oScq0y.png

WORLDS apart from that €600 piece of scrap.

If you don't want to build yourself, go for this build by TerrorFirmer. And haggle a bit for the craic. I don't think he has any consoles, offer him one of those.

Assuming that's euros, you could do a lot better.

I gave him a build yesterday similar Grindle, with an i3 though.

Terrors would be a good option OP.

There are tonnes of tutorials for building all over the net, and it's not a difficult process

@grindle is there any other cases that would work with that build like one with blue in it or a clear side??

Have you read the reviews about Mesh and compared them to PCS? - not disputing the specs of this PC, but on average, I'd buy there quicker than with Mesh.

To be fair it's not quite as bad as people are making out - absolutely it's terrible for the money, but as a machine you can just buy off the shelf it's actually not what I'd call the 'lowest of the low'.

The Fx4300 is a weak enough processor and the R7 250 isn't brilliant but on the whole, you would be able to play Battlefield 4 at 1080p medium settings well enough.

Definitely not worth 600 but I've sadly seen people buy much worse for similar money. But you have to remember it comes with a genuine, bullet-proof copy of Windows, and a full warranty as well. It's easy to say 'get windows from reddit and save €100' but that carries an element of risk and people definitely overlook the actual cost of a legit copy of Windows that come with pre-built PCs.

I would obviously never buy rather than build but you can't directly compare the cost of buying a new, full system warranty, full copy of Windows retail PC with building your own. They're just so different and different markets.

It doesn't make the retail option a rip-off either, I mean take this PC for example at 600 - what would you pay for a PC like that in PC World? Even more...

Building this PC would cost you about €380, Windows would bring it to €480, and then the retailer has to obviously make a profit and offer a 3 year full system warranty. So it's about right, terrible value if you can build your own, but on the whole not outright robbery either.

Having said that, here's a way better shelf buy for €630.

Way better processor, way better graphics card, okay case and does come with a keyboard and mouse.

    Windows 10

    Intel® Core™ i3-4170 Processor

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti

    8GB DDR3 RAM

    1TB Hard Drive

    DVD/RW drive

Atm in my wishlist I have:
8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 DIMM
2048MB MSI GeForce GTX 950 OC Aktiv PCIe
    1000GB Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003
    ASRock H81M-VG4 R2.0 Intel H81 So.1150 Dual
    500 Watt Xilence Performance C Series Non-Modular
    Intel Core i5 4460 4x 3.20GHz So.1150 BOX
    120GB SanDisk Plus 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s MLC Toggle (SDSSDA-120G-G25)

This is all i have down for the moment is there anything else I need to build a pc like a disc drive or stuff like that and also if someone could find a nice looking case with some sorta clear side and leds on it for less than 100 euro that would be helpful any help is appreciated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

That's all that you need. For €100 you should be spoilt for choice with cases, the Antec 100 is a nice one with a clear side panel, dunno about LEDs.

PCs are fairly boring looking in normal cases, all you see is a bunch of shinies and spinning fans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭zxxtonyxxz

So i dont need any fans, disk drives etc.. all i need is a copy of windows ontop of all this and im sorted and btw how do i know which case to get is there specs for picking a case in accordance with my items above?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

Unless you want a disk drive, but they aren't needed. I think I've used mine twice, and both times were for watching DVDs. Install Windows from USB.

    Most cases supply fans afaik.

Once the case is listed as ATX or mATX its fine. mATX is smaller, your motherboard will fit into either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭zxxtonyxxz

Cool thanks and yes i do want a disk drive in my one would they come with the case or be bought sepretaly

Buy it seperately, if its just for CDs/DVDs then a cheap one at like €10-15 is enough

Thanks a million digital you've helped out a lot

Zalman Z11 Plus Midi Tower Case (ATX, M-ATX, Supports Bottom PSU Installation and Aperture for Cable Management, Anti-Vibration Rubber Stand)
On amazon! I was thinking of getting this case?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

The Z11 is a really nice looking case, but I found that there's not much space to work with on the inside compared to how big and bulky the exterior is. Not a huge deal, but some of the larger graphics cards won't fit into it.

Could you recommend me a nice looking case for the build i listed above my budget is 100euro max.

Oh, there's nothing wrong with the Z11, just be aware that the GPU can't be longer than 300mm. I think you'll be perfectly fine once you know that, as there are shorter models of pretty much every variant of card, but just to avoid buying a card that's too long it's important to know.

Advance Shaman A8301B30 PC Tower - microATX - Black
I have to say i like the look of this one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 181 ✭✭zxxtonyxxz

    _ Sound card

    _ Surge Protector
    _ Network Interface Card
    _ Wi-Fi
    _ USB card

Do i need any of these to build a pc or do they come in bundles with what i have listed a few posts up

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

I wouldn't spend over €100 on an Advance brand case, they make some lower quality stuff mostly.

CiT make some pretty nice budget stuff, like the Vanquish.

If you're spending more, I like the NZXT 340, Corsair SPEC, Thermaltake Core V31.

There's so much choice, the ones above though can all take cards of any length.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

WiFi card is the only thing you'll need if you want to use WiFi, homeplugs are generally recommended.

A good PSU has surge protection, USB and sound are in the motherboard
