If you have any grass they'd be better out for the six weeks and start with 3 kgs of barley meal build up to 8 kg split in twice a day feed. Only put em in if ground or grass won't let you keep em out..

Would it be worth fattening a 420kg fr bull or would I be better off sending him to the mart now?

He's 19 months, good square bull with a reasonable cover of flesh as he is still grazing with the cows. He's also vasectomised but I suppose there are no customers for him this time of year.

Hardly bring 800 in mart? Fatten him till next January. Say 600 kg live or 320 kg carcass thereabouts x €4.20 kg be €1340 gross. However be approx 1.2tonnes meal. Say €300. 3 or 4 bales or pit silage straw ballpark € 100. So say € 1300 net minus €400 be €900 versus what you think you'd get in mart.

This week and next week I'd say 13-1500 depending on the cow.

How old are the cows, fattening 10 or 12 year old cows on concrete is not great and spring grass brings them on a way better.different story to younger cows
