Hi, I am new to this forum, so sorry in advance if some things are not relevant.

I have bought a house recently and I am having problem with the firebird 90 boiler.

The boiler has worked for a couple of days, but now the fan refuse to start, it just makes a rattling noise for few second, tryes to fire and then stop. I have open the air vent on the side to rotate manually the fan as I thought it could just be stuck, but it is moving freely.

The boiler hasn't been for a few years previous to that, I have new oil in the tank and also bled the radiators. It has been working fine for 2 days heating the house well.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Likely to be a clogged or damaged pump. Maybe just a pump coupling, but these usually go due to damaged pump.

Always a good idea to have them serviced if you move into a new home. You cannot be sure of its service history.

Don't know much about boiler, but why is the fan not starting? It has worked perfectly for 2 days.
Even if the pump was clogged up, should the fan not start anyway?

They are all on the same shaft. You need a boiler man.

Got a plumber in, capacitor was gone on the motor. Replaced it and it's working fine.

Bang on Jim. You don't expect people to put new before the word oil. I must read more carefully.

Glad you have it going. Hope you had him check out everything when you had him there (just in case) and got it serviced.

    Thanks for reporting back.
