Smell from new radiators?

Whole house has been replumbed and new central heating installed a few months ago. When I put on the heating the smell in the rooms is horrible after 5 or 10 mins. It's like plastic burning and gives me an instant headache so I assume it would be giving my sleeping kids a headache too.

I assume this is because they are new and it is a sort of 'off gas' - is this right?
And if so how do I get rid of it and how long will it take.

    Never heard of it either.
You sure it's not fumes. Do you have a CO alarm?
Have you had any paint work done in those rooms? New carpet or floors?
