I know taxman has a Cambium, most likely a few others also.
Thinking of buying a Cambium Carved. Anyone anything negative to say about them barring the price?

I had non - carved version. Didn't sit well at all with me.
Saddle advice from other people is basically useless in my opinion
    Everyone's anatomy is different

had one briefly ...its a lot firmer than i thought it would be..
setting up takes a bit as with most saddles i suppose..
reason i didnt keep was i didnt like it enough to splash out on a few for the fleet..
it was good though and well made. also heavy if that matters

Weight isn't an issue. I'm on a Brooks Swift 😊

I've been using one for the last 6 months and find it excellent. It has good flex and is very comfortable.

I'm using a carved and a non-carved on 2 bikes for the last three or four months. Very pleased with them.

Would you favor one over the other?

Not really. They both feel the same on the road. Perhaps longer term the carved version might be better due to less pressure on the male vulnerable areas. These are quite wide saddles which suit me as a fairly big guy. I've had no problems breaking them in. The main disadvantage is that they are quite expensive.

Cycleways in Parnell st (Dublin) have these in stock and seem to be the cheapest around too. They also allow you to try before you buy as they are Brooks dealers. (if that's the word) You do need to pay the full cost in advance and they'll give you a used saddle to try and if you don't like it they'll refund your money no questions asked..I'm 6'5 and 17ish stone (not fat believe it or not ;-)) and have tried at least 6 saddles on my road bike over past 7 years and commute 28mile round trip daily and I'm still looking for a comfy saddle so I'm heading in on Thursday to try one.I have wide sit bones too so going to try the Cambium C17 for a week and then the carved to see the difference..I'll let you know how it goes...

I'm going to avail of that service then.
    Cheers.

I've had one for a few weeks, and so far it's not as comfy as a B17... do they stretch to fit your posterior, like the leather saddles do?

IF they stretch, how do they know to stop stretching? The leather Brooks have a bolt you can tighten to counter-act extra stretch, but not so the cambium?

It's not a saddle that's designed to stretch. I find my C17 comfortable over long distances but I also have the C15 and don't find it comfortable at all.
I might give it more time but I think it's just too narrow for me.

I stretched my Swift about a month ago. Half turn max. (honest).
    Won't stop creaking!!!
I'll have to lash some sweat into it.

Got the c17 carved today in cycleways,They are having a 20% off all Brooks sale so got mine for €140.Delighted..It's a brand new saddle they give you too so if u like it keep it and if not bring it back for a refund..Stock was low but he said they're getting more in and continuing the sale.
Only did 10k on it today but it feels nice and comfy so far..I'll let you know how it goes next week
