Has anyone experience with running the daytime electricity cost of a geothermal system off a solar panel roof system, on a new house build?
the geothermal system is going into the house anyway to run the underfloor heating.
I'm trying to figure out what the excess power from a solar PV system would be used for? after heating water. and whether the running costs of a geothermal system would be offset by the solar panels
Especially as there is no payment for excess power going back into the grid
would it be worth installing a battery system to harness the excess power from the solar panels?
I have solar PV on my house with batteries. The power usage goes as follows.
First use -> Power home and appliance's (including your geo thermal pump)
if you have excess energy then
Second use -> Charge batteries
if your batteries are charged and you still have excess then
Third use -> Immersion hot water heating
If you batteries are charged and the water is hot and you still have excess then
Fourth use -> Send back to the grid
Best charge controller make is victron
Best inverters are either Fronius or solar edge
Panels are cheap, the battery and inverter and charge controllers are where the cost is. Without them the panels are useless but get the best possible as yu want them to last.
