Just spotted a white plane with red tail flying very low over kilcock from my house about 5k north of kilcock. From my perspective the plane was under the tree line. Any idea what was going on there? Low flying aircraft (nowhere near that low) normal on approach to Dublin heading east

If the flight path is accurate i doubt it. No chance i could see to Leixlip at my elevation. Also I checked flightradar within a 2 mins and there was nothing anywhere near

Minimum 150ft over open land climbs higher over built up areas, full permission to do this from relevant authorities.

Yeah, that's it! Looked a bit like a passenger aircraft ! Had spotted the survey over our house but it went right over but had not seen the tail

They are using a twin otter for this survey I believe.

This plane passed not 100m beside my house last week. It was incredibly low and barely skimming the tops of the trees. We are quite near some pylons that connect up at Batterstown and it occurred to me that it could collide with one if the pilot didnt know the lie of the land. We were on a flight path that particular day and i thought he was trying to avoid the incoming planes to Dublin airport which pass directly over our house.

They'll be very well briefed on the lie of the land, and indeed those HT lines are marked on maps. This is their full time job they are not some, pardon the pun, fly by night Cowboys.

Well i didn't know what it was and i was genuinely fearing for his/her safety... I thought it might have been an average Joe coming over from Weston.
But it is reassuring to read this now.! :)
