    assuming decent shots can actually be taken with the gear I have, if anyone has any recommendations on correct settings to try and get decent shots I'd appreciate it :

    canon 600d

    with the following lenses :

    55-250mm 1:4-5.6 is / 50mm 1:1.4 prime / 17-40mm 1:4L

    have tripod, have remote, have the intention of getting up in the middle of the night...

    It was very high in the sky at my house, so it was hard to get a good foreground object. Best images came by zooming in to the moon only, but everyone has that shot.

    This one is a stack of 4. I like that the stars near the moon suddenly became visible once it had been completely shadowed.
