    I am a happy driver of a 1998 Merc C180 1.8L Classic.

Problem is the seat angle adjuster of my drivers seat is defective - it will only allow the seat-back to lean back - it won't raise the seat back to upright.

All controls are manual not electric opeartion.

The whole seat up/down action is fine.
The seat base tilt angle adjuster is fine.

The problem is with the turn wheel operated seat back angle adjuster.

( The front passenger seat is working fine )

I tried youtube but found nothing - can anyone assist on a how to fix please ?

I'd suggest taking the seat out, removing the cloth and getting a proper look at the interior of the mechanism. It sounds like the teeth have broken and are preventing you from bringin the seat forward again? It's not a huge job to take the seat apart but it requires patience!

Thanks for responding. I actually fixed it with the aid of a liberal spraying of WD40 , an 8 hour wait , some shoulder applied pressure to the top of the seat whilst turing the wheel- and hey presto the mechanism freed up.

WD40 - the miricale spray. Good for squeeky door hinges, rusty bike chains , piles and bad breath !
