Urifah Faber finally tells of the Duane Ludwig shenanigans

Ok, I am gonna be the first to admit it. Urijah Faber hasn't always been my favorite guy in MMA, and I know from reading this forum that some of you have felt the same in the past, but I reckon there aren't many who would care more than he clearly does about his team and about his gym.

It looks like he's been sitting on all the crazy **** Duane Ludwig did while he was coaching at his gym, but after being sued and having all sorts of stuff put out in the media by Duane he's finally had enough and decided to tell his side... if everything he's saying is true, it would appear Duane Ludwig is a scumbag (and also possible bipolar imo). Watch the vid below...

It's mind boggling stuff if true tbh... Faber has the patience of a saint!

Faber talks for like 70 minutes about it. Basically he's stating that Duane Ludwig was a bully, lied about contracts, lied about things Faber said regarding sponshorship, pressured broke fighters into giving him their bonuses, tried to sue Faber and the list goes on!

Don't forget selling his own brand peanut butter from the gym :D

Ludwig sounds like a simpleton according to Faber, doesn't listen, makes up allegations in his own head then accuses people, intimidates them if not getting his own way then cries playing the sympathy card if hes not getting his own way.

    Summary from Reddit
    Reddit wrote:
If Urijah Faber is telling the truth, Ludwig is:
Racist ("Constant racist 'jokes' for example: Black guys go to the back of the line!' Black guy to Urijah: He tells me that every day. It's not funny."),
Chauvinist ("He doesn't believe in WMMA and refuse to train women."),
Bullying not fighters ("Scaring people, provoking them to fight him."),
He's always really mean to people, ("Made girl from Alaska cry by telling her mma isn't for her, but didn't want to help her, because 'He doesn't believe in WMMA'."),
Shady with money ("He called my sponsors to pay him separately without noticing me beforehand."),
TJ works for him, but he still have to pay him for private lessons ("TJ is doing seminars for him for free, but he still wants money for private lessons."),
Emotionally unstable ("Cries all the time. In one moment he's nice to you, in the next you are his biggest enemy."),
Not doing work he was paid for ("Takes money and then goes to do seminar in different city."),
He's suing Alpha Male for percent of money that they didn't pay him from undisclosed bonuses. ("No such a payments are in the contract.")
Gets really angry and aggressive, when someone interrupts him. (first example from JRE - thanks to /u/ethems) (second example from JRE - thanks to /u/CongoSnake)
He can suddenly stop talking to you just because he feels you have "bad energy".
Duane Ludwig post fight Danny Castillo vs Paul Sass wearing opponents shirt - thanks to /u/Biff666Mitchell

Thanks for posting this, I remember Ludwig snapping in that podcast. Remembered thinking he seemed alright, but very full on with a bit of a temper. Like he'd be fine most of the time but you wouldn't know when he'd go off. I'd say he's had a few too many knocks to the head.

I don't really like Faber much tbh, but I'd probably be tipping a little towards his side now.

I've read bits and pieces of the interview but I must listen to the whole thing.

Ludwig's reply is quite telling IMO. He pretty much confirms everything Urijah is saying. If none of it was true, he'd deny it right? I mean, if someone had accused me of racism for a start, and it wasn't true, i'd be defending mself to the hilt..........It seems like he's just trying to play things down.

"There's jokes floating around the gym all the time. For him to point me out, like what the hell dude?" (Doesn't deny that he made racial remarks)

"I wouldn't say I'm against women's MMA........... But yeah, I don't like to train women."

"If something that was supposed to happen doesn't happen, then I'm going to ask you about that." (Doesn't deny the stuff about Urijah and the sponsors)

"We figured that out......... Me and Reed are cool. That was a total misunderstanding. I actually talked with Reed about that, too, and we squashed that". (Doesn't deny that he put his hands on Reed Harris in a quarrel about tickets.)

Depends how you look at it. I took it as his reasoned explanation into something which he maybe sees as Faber blowing something(or everything) out of proportion.

IF he was racist and other AM members felt he treated certain people unfairly then would a UFC champ in TJ want to be seen to have any relationship with him? I know that if I considered someone I knew as racist I would distance myself as much as possible from them.

Maybe(:P) looking too much into this but Dana's clip of the day is Ludwig KO'ing Goulet from 2006.

Yeah but you're not TJ Dillashaw. Somebody obviously felt his racist "jokes" went too far as they went to Urijah about it.

The other stuff however, he pretty much confirms it. "Yeah, I don't like women's MMA" (He never said he didn't refuse to coach them). He confirms something happened between he and Reed Harris but they made up etc.

I dunno, it seems he isn't really denying anything here. Of course Faber's side of the story is just one side, but I don't get the impression he's lying.

With nobody else seemingly willing to chime into it, its basically ones word against the others. I know I'm not TJ(I'm not 4 foot nothing lol) but there are some serious allegations by Faber which I would have thought other people who have warrented their own say on matters. In terms of women's MMA he did say he had no problem with wrestling or grappling but he just doesnt like to see woman get punched in the face.

To me just seems like a bit of handbags with both airing their dirty laundry in public.

I think the only reason Faber disclosed all that stuff is to do with something that happens in TUF, I thought I heard him say that it would eventually come out in TUF.

I'm guessing McGregor is involved in there somewhere :P

He said Conor picked up on the tension at TUF after a comment made by Ludwig that there was only one real champion in the TAM gym or something to that effect...but what i'm not clear on is why Faber had Ludwig in the TUF gym if he didn't like him?

Could he have come with TJ?

Possibly but surely TJ knows about the tension but i presume Faber is charge of the training and would have full control over it.

Anyway we'll find out on TUF when the incident airs, maybe tonight's episode.

Normally in a situation like this I wouldn't go solely on one side of the argument but Faber has included so many other people in the story that if it was full of holes it would unravel straight away.

Ludwig sounds like a complete moron but I do think it was negligent of Faber to keep him in the business for so long in light of his behaviour.

Because despite the drama Faber is smart enough to know that a 3 hour seminar with Bang would benefit people like Ryan Hall and the other grapplers massively. I doubt he was bringing him in for every training session.

I'm not Fabers biggest fan but what he's saying doesn't surprise me. I have heard other stories of Ludwig trying to intimidate members of the public for a laugh.

Heard similar stories about Donald Cerrone as well.

I heard that one about Cerrone and it made me think twice about what kind of guy he is. It was Bobby Geen who said it.

And then I heard Bobby Green on Helwani's show and he's one of the biggest idiots i've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to speak! WHen Helwani brougt back up the Cerrone stuff he kind of backtracked. So i've gone back to not believing that stuff about Cerrone.

Something like, at a UFC expo, signing autographs, grabbing the girlfriends of guys queuing up. Being obnoxious, saying stuff like "what you gonna do about it".

The story sounded weird at the time. The back tracking doesn't surprise me.

He also claimed Cerrone said some racist stuff to him but wouldn't go into detail. After hearing/seeing Green on The MMA Hour, I would't believe a word he says.
