2008 Mondeo - Timing belt change?

    Hi

    Seeking some advice

Getting car serviced shortly - 2008 Petrol Mondeo, only 80km on the clock.

I thought it would not need a timing belt change until well over 100km, but garage said they would recommend it due to age of the car, even though mileage is low.

    Is their recommendation justified?

    Thanks in advance.

I have a 2008 Mondeo Diesel and I'm at 100k. The belt on mine doesn't need to be changed until 125k but I'm gonna do it at 110k to be safe.

It's a big job, they might just be trying to make a few extra quid from ye.

Thanks - that's my concern alright - they are saying around 400-500 for the TB change. But I'm conscious prevention > cure :)

Jesus they are doing you a favour with that. Most places quote 900+ as there is a dry and wet belt to be replaced!

Belt is due at 160,000 km or 8 years.

That's the 1.8 diesel. The OP's car is 1.6 petrol.

I think I should go ahead then, as mine is over 7 yrs old, for peace of mind.

    Thanks all

Get it done. I lost a lovely (old) mondeo when the Tbelt went early. It wasn't worth fixing. I now have another mondeo and got it done early as I dont want to take the chance.
