    Hi,
I currently drive a 1.4litre diesel toyota corolla 2006. I want to change my car and have no idea what to go for. My corolla is grand but I suppose...not too exciting. I want to come up to a 2010 diesel.

I like the look of minis and golfs but have driven neither and done no research yet. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a suitable car? Doing about 30mins of motor way driving twice a day monday to friday and very little driving most weekends.

    My budget is approx. €10,000
I don't need anything big as it's just my husband and I so practicalities don't really come in to it.

Thanks for the response.i am not familiar with this car but is certainly the type of thing I'm hoping to go for. Is it a nice car to drive? I teat drove a peogeot 207 before and found it too light on the road... didn't like it at all. I know its difficult when buying a used car but are renaults fairly reliable?I'm clueless when it comes to cars.

My corolla has been hassle free aside from regularly servicing and changing the wipers anf tyres I've had no maintenance issues and hope to be the same with whatever new car I go with.

Sorry to say it but you're better off running the Corolla into the ground with regular services etc for as long as possible. A Mini or a Golf will not inject any fun into your motoring life.

Toyota's are more reliable and probably better on the road. Minis or VWs are the most boring cars to go for, least with the Corolla you know you have a good one and they were built to be affordable and cheap to run/maintain.

Thanks for your response. It's funny I was just looking back on my post thinking the same thing... seeing as the corolla is hassle free and relatively cheap to run maybe I shouldn't change at all... there's no real reason to change only boredom/vanity and I could certainly use the money in more useful ways... maybe I'll stay as I am for another while.

Your last post near says it all, if you have more sensible ways to spend money then don't waste it on replacing a good car.

No matter what you buy you are always taking the seller/dealer/car history's word as 100% truth. Far too many stories of great test driving cars with a good history turning out to be crappers, same as any buy/sell market goes, why should you take the risk when you gain very little for said risk?

if you think the Corolla isn't exciting, a Golf isn't exactly a thrill ride either.

a Mini would be a breath of fresh air in a quirky kind of way, it kind of suggests that you didn't follow the crowd and wanted something a bit different imo. certainly moreso than a Golf.

VW Scirocco might be worth a look as a more exciting :pac: Golf.

I dunno, minis are pretty much a segment leader and a huge seller.
DS3/5 fits your above description IMO
