Buying a 07 passat?

    Looking at getting a car to replace my current 02 vw passat which isnt cost effect to fix due to high millage and year , whats the 2006-2008 pasats like ? I have heard the 2.0l ones have engine problems ? Other cars i was thinking about was ford mondeo, skoda octavia , budget is around 5-6 k any opinions appriciated :-)

    Early examples of that car (2005 and 2006) can be troublesome, electronic parking brake, sticking brake calipers, steering column, etc. They were much improved from late 2007 onwards. 2.0 TDi can suffer from injector problems (there was a recall on these by VW recently). That engine can also suffer from balance shaft failure of the oil pump too. If you can find one with documented proof that these were replaced then it's worth looking at otherwise the less powerful 1.9 TDi is a safer bet.
