    Hi All

Spotted a last year model tv on Amazon, could get it delivered through the North, I was looking at the same model TV here and it has a built in tuner to pick up the free to air sat channels.

Would it work here? I read pixmania tv's are not Irish spec'ed so are the Amazon ones?

    Link or model no.?

If the TV has a DVB-T2 Freeview-HD tuner it should work OK with Saorview.

Check Saorview website too, they might list it in the EQUIPMENT section as being compatible.

It's an as740. It's for the satellite channels I was thinking of.
What does it need to pick up the free to air sat channels ?

A DVB-S2 tuner with a screw-on connector (F-connector) at the rear normally beside the aerial input and identified as SAT IN or LNB IN or similar.

It will need a satellite dish pointed at Astra 28.2 for the UK free to view channels.

Could it be delivered through the North ? Don't even think of using Parcel Motel!

The LG TV's have built in Terrestrial (for Saorview) and Satellite (for the Free stations). Most of them have Smart functionality and built in Wifi these days too (Netflix Youtube etc)

LG 42LF652V for Example is STG£389 on Amazon. Amazon deliver free to Ireland so there is no need to go through NI.

Regarding Free Satellite Tuner. This will display the free Uk stations BUT the difference between this and Freesat is that Freesat branded products organise the channels for you and you do not have to rescan when channels are moved by the broadcasters.

With that in mind keep an eye on the LF650 and LF630 range of TVs which come with Freesat software installed. I understand that LG are infact back porting the freesat software to any LG Smarts TVs which is deadly nice of them!

    Hi

Thanks for the info. The panny I was looking at on Amazon was not available to be shipped to the ROI, I was thinking of deliverme.ie
I want a built in sat tuner, as after paying for a shiny new TV, I don't wan to then having to go out and buy a box for my sat dish ( I do not have sky), have two remotes etc.etc I had kinda gone off the LG's(reviews) and was leaning more towards a Samsung / Sony/ Panasonic, the latter being over budget, but I saw an ex display on Amazon. I just want to get the best TV I can on a budget. Would a LG have guides, HD sat channels etc?

The charge you for receiving an oversized parcel.

And that's not just weight, but "dimensional weight". Trust me I learned the hard way.

And then you have to collect it from their main centre. If you are in the country you can imagine what that is going cost you!
