Imported phone with only one compatible 4G band.

Perhaps the question is silly, perhaps it's too much to ask here, but anyway.

Thinking of importing a phone, but of the two 4G bands my network uses, the phone in question only uses one.

Will this limit the phone's 4G coverage?

IE - is the additional band kept as an option in case of spotty coverage on the other band or congestion?

    advice?
    thanks

Depends. Higher frequencies give more bandwidth but less range, so in urban areas using say 1800Mhz over 800Mhz makes sense, but due to the limited throughput and heavy levels of users the networks can overlap different bands. Theres no guarantee you'll get coverage only using one of the bands.

Considering they paid 50-120 MILLION each for their spectrum, chances are they are using all they can.
