The Wicklow League Kicks off this year with the pre season cup. The league itself will start a week after the cup has finished.

I will post up all fixtures, results and tables as I get them.

Pre cup 1/2 final

Florentine 5 - 4 the beehive
A great performance from all, I'm told both teams gave it there all, John Doyle and Owen Brennan with some classy legs to keep the beehive in strong g contention. The bray men showing their class to win a nail biting decider.
Best of luck in the final.

Whistlers C v Nolans postponed til next friday.

B cup

Laragh A 5 - 3 black toms
Good show from the Tinahely men who will improve with each game , the Laragh men's experience could have been the key factor and puts them in to the semi's

Doyles b 5 - 3 woodpecker b
A good standard on show here, the pecker men gave all they could and pushed the doyles men to the limit , but doyles class came out on show and in the end ran out the winners to set up a class with lynhams.

Glenmalure A 5 - 1 woodpecker A top quality game from the outset, the 1001 could have went either way but it was the glen men who took it out.
1st doubles saw peewee Byrne and logger take on Glenn Fitz and paddy Byrne a top class game with a couple of 180's but it was the pecker men who took this one!
Paddy Dunne and Liam Burke then took on Dave Kelly and Paul Dunleavy , could have went either way this one with the pecker men missing early doubles but Liam held his nerve with double 8 to take the win.
David Carter then took on paddy Byrne and this was a serious game of scoring from carter he was on fire from the word go and put up a classy performance. The game of the night was paddy Dunne v Glenn Fitz and again a couple of 180's on show here but fitzer took the opening leg and looked all set for the win until Dunne took out 140 to level up, he started leg 3 with a 137 and 180 and despite fitzer coming hard Dunne took the game to give the glen a 4-1 lead... It was then down to the glen captain pewee Byrne to wrap up the win in the captains battle (with myself ) and with a couple of 140's pewee ran out an easy winner!
The men from the glen will take some stopping this year with performances like that.

Lough inn v Glenmalure B Postponed til next week.

The lough inn beat glenmalure B 5-0 in the B cup.

The cup semi finals took place last night and in the 'PRE CUP' it was whistlers taking on nolans
after the doubles nolans had a 2-1 lead thanks to wins from Stephen byrne and Robbie Kelly & martin murphy and john O'Brien, whistlers got one back thanks to martin byrne and john Edwards.
1st up In the singles saw dave Corcoran take on martin murphy and despite solid darts from dave it was murphy who came out on top with an excellent show, its great to sel e martin back in the league.
john Quinn then took on john o'hara in a classy game, level at 1-1 quinner took out 82 ( bull double 16 ) to put the Wicklow men back in the game, quinner is back in form lately and will be a real threat tomorrow in the county comp.
Stephen byrne then took on Patrick Corcoran in another decent game, patrcik threw very well but byrne was on song with heavy scoring to put annagh 4-2 in front.
John Edwards took on Robbie Kelly, and it was a great performance from Edwards to put Wicklow back in the game, john has been one of the form players the last few weeks and was excellent last night.
Martin byrne took on ken hall next, and hall started pretty well but byrne who was solid all night and was excellent on his doubles took the win to level the tie at 4-4.
last up saw martin fortune take on john O'Brien and fortune was very quick out of the gates to take a 1-0 lead, and it looked a similar outcome in leg 2 as martin was on top early however O'Brien never gave up and levelled the game, the last leg saw martin throw really well including a 180 & 140 but O'Brien was in no mood to give up and with some very solid socres of his own he fought back well and eventually took out the match to give Nolan's a 5-4 win
They will now face Flornetine in next weeks final.

in the 'b cup'
glenmalure travelled to face the lough inn, this looked a tight affair on paper however it was the men from the glen who came out on top with a 5-1 victory they were clinical on their doubles and continuing their fine form to book their spot in the final.

the other semi's saw Lynhams take on doyles b, and it was neck and neck all night, doyles sticking with the Laragh men, but in the end Lynhams ran out 5-3 winners to set up the clash with Glenmalure in the final next week. Thanks to Fergal Olohan for doing the updates!

The venue for both finals will be confirmed tomorrow afternoon.
They will take place next Friday the 9th, both games taking place at the same time in same venue!!!

What a final ...............

Nolans took on the florentine in a classy encounter in the pre cup final.

Jimmy Byrnë and James O'Toole put the bray side 1 in front with a terrific display , Jimmy's 83 getting the win.
It was then Stephen Byrnë and John O'Brien with a very good solid display to take the 2nd game and level things up.
Bray went into over drive in game 3 with tommy smith and robbie Hammond on fire, heavy scoring and classy finishing putting them 2-1 in front.

John o'hara then threw a solid game to take the 1st singles, in the end taking out the bull to level the match at 2-2

Then perhaps the game of the night with Stee Byrne taking on James O'Toole, heavy scoring from the outset, and level at 1-1 it really could have went either way , but a 145 from James to leave top's and then taking it out 1st dart to put bray back in front.
What an amazing young talent to have playing for Wicklow.

Tommy smith continued is fine form with a heavy scoring victory of John o'brien who himself played very well, smith finished well and that was the difference.

At 4-2 down martin Murphy came in and with multiple 140's showing his class and experience he got Nolans back in the game with a very good performance.

Next up joe fagan took on robbie Kelly and fagan from the start took control with heavy scoring to go 1-0 up, in leg 2 he again scored very strongly , and after 2 agonisingly close darts at double 20 he threw an amazing last dart to hit the double and secure the win for the Florentine ( 5-3 )

Great game of darts, terrific standard played in an extremely sporting manor in a very good venue.

Unlucky to Nolans I'm sure they will be back stronger than ever

But a huge well down to team florentine in there 1st year in the league they are now the 'pre cup' champions 🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
