Rebooting a short lived relationship

    Hi All,

Any words of wisdom here would be appreciated, recently out of a long term relationship, it came to its natural end but the it ended rather badly for both of us so quite a few scars taken on board.

Anyway naturally after that you're like let's be single for a while and recover, however a couple of weeks later I met an amazing girl, anyway we were together for a while and it was fantastic, however I noticed some of the knockon effects of the previous relationship were hindering this one and she noticed it too which meant the great early part of a relationship wasn't as good as it should be .

So she called it a day, she said she's really into me but I'm not ready for another relationship yet. But in time who knows?

This girl definitely isn't a rebound I just wish I met her a couple of months later when I could be the best version of me. I suppose I'm just wondering what the next step I should take...I don't want to lose this girl...but should I just give her space for a few weeks and then try my luck again?

I don't think you should try again in a few weeks.

You said yourself that there were knock on effects from your last relationship hindering the new relationship.

I don't think a few weeks is enough to move on completely from a long term relationship, and you risk having the same issues crop up again if you go back to the new lady in a few weeks.

I think the fairest thing you could do is leave the lady alone and just work on getting over your past relationship before you consider dating anyone.

    Harsh. But true.

Knock on effects from a recent relationship is pretty much the meaning of being on the rebound. Wait a few months and see how you feel then.

Post relationship is a strange phase which is effectively like a bereavement. It's not a good time to start a new serious relationship. Wait a few months and see how it goes
