    Hey all,

My car is at the end of its days now and i need a replacement for a 70km round trip to work daily.

Which car would you choose from either Mondeo / Superb / Avensis.

Will likely buy from a dealer and look to get finance from the dealer too.

    Thanks all.

Has to be a superb I'm biased though I love them. Avensis diesel also a smashing car. Not fond of the mondeo so in order of my personal preference there you have it 😊

By todays commuting standards 70 kms is not a huge commute. Whatever about size of car, you should consider petrol. Your only doing 350 kms a week circa 200miles. Do you need diesel? My commute is 200kms day and found a mazda 6 petrol to be relatively good on juice.

Sorry, that 70 kms was the top of my head guess! Just checked google maps and I do 48.9 km each way, x2 = 98 km. x5 gives almost 500km per week then plus about 150 km at the weekend. That gives me c.750 km per week. I think a diesel might be the best option here.

I might also look at focus / octavia, but I feel that the bigger car will give more comfort

Should be able to get a Volvo S60 D3 on your budget, very comfortable and the 2.0 litre D3 engine has plenty of grunt.

Diesel will have no issues doing that small mileage as long as there isn't much stop start involved.

I have a 2010 Octavia TDi vRS, have done 100,000km in the last 2 years. Trouble free and a decent drive. You could pick up a 2012 for €20,000. Best of Luck.

Passat?? Would be looking at 2011/12 model for €20k

You'd get 13s and some 14 passats for that

More than likely they won't be highline 2L versions

Not the 2014 ones anyway. That's the first mention of 2.0 highline to be fair.

You'd get a decent Passat CC for that money, if you don't need much use of the rear middle seat:
