Read about this on FB http://www.biodiversityireland.ie/projects/irish-pollinator-initiative/all-ireland-pollinator-plan/
I am surprised that there is no direct link with GLAS which to me seems to be a logical step or maybe I missed something
After reading the article we would like to include an appropriate wild flower seed mix to our wild bird cover mix.
Are we allowed to mix flower seeds with our wild bird cover mix?

There is a GLAS Plan for Solitary bees. Also plan for traditional meadows which would be of huge benefit to bees. Corncrake/Wader scheme would benefit bees also.

I know there is a GLAS plan to accommodate bee species and to be honest I don't know if they are bumble or honey bees and which are more important to our biodiversity.
As I said we have signed up for a bird cover mix which we believe is appropriate to our area but we also didn't received any advice/consultation regarding bees. Bees were never mentioned in the discussion.

Both types of bees would be important to our biodiversity. Honey bees would be more important in pollinating agricultural crops. IFA don't think much of bees, they lobbied hard to prevent the neonicotinoid ban.
