    Hi,

I've moved house this year and I notice that the overflow pipe from my attic water tank sticks out of the soffit in an unsightly manner. Would it be okay to re-route this so that it connects to the nearby drain pipe? Or is it meant to stick out so that any overflowing is observed (and then remedied)?

    Thanks.

The correct name is overflow warning pipe, and it needs to protrude in a manner to warn of a problem in the storage tank.

Cut it maybe 3" past the soffit. That's if it's left too long

I worry about all of these that I see like this. It is possible to have scalding water come from these.

Would gathering it into a hopper and then into down pipe be a better way of doing it?
