Just happened to notice that lord lucan is no longer listed as a Mod for the A&A forum.

Has his lordship gone missing or is this just a typo?

He's probably up, up and away.... sorry

AFAIK he is not a mod anymore

Considering the consensus on the 'what's wrong with the forum' thread.. It's more mods perhaps then less that we'd need.. Strange one.

Speaking of said thread, tomorrow it will be two weeks since it was locked. Does it really does take two weeks to digest and form some sort of a response to an 8 page thread of many people saying the same thing ? Not being critical of the mods but this in itself may be indicative of what people have been saying.

I'm sure z mods have lives which involve real work and social life outside of boards.ie.

Probably all the mods would have to make a decision and not based on one's views which takes time?

So do we need another mod because I know someone who might be interested, "wink" "wink"

As above - moderators have a life outside here and are unpaid volunteers.

Expecting instant results/reactions all the time is pushing things.

Including the poster pat dunne who announced he was leaving the site via a new thread a few weeks ago that's a few members who have left

That's weird, wonder what the purpose of this thread was?

You can include me in this. I always have random aviation questions but am wary of posting for some of the reaction. So I just lurk most of the time.

It's not really a busy forum, I couldn't understand the hullabaloo over the few "Travel" Threads that end up here, take them out - and it's 50/50 with most of them whether they fit or not, I never seen the harm, it's obvious from the Thread Title what they are, just don't read them - but ya take them outta here the place is very quiet...you'd only need check the main Forum page every 3 or 4 days to see everything.

I asked this question simply out of common courtsey to lord lucan, as he has put in a massive amount of time and effort into this forum and has shown a lot of encouragement to members over the last 18 months as a Mod.

If it is the case that he is no longer acting as a Mod, I would like to thank him for all that he has put into the forum and that he continues as a knowledgable and original contributor to the A&A forum into the future.

    Pat

    On the run since 1974:)

As you've noticed, I've stepped down from modding across all forums I modded on Boards.ie. Tbh it was starting to impinge on real life and it was time for a break. A&A is a great forum and is probably one of the best on Boards for knowledge and expertise.

Sure it can be annoying when people post asking what terminal do they check in at or other such travel related queries but just remember that a lot are new to boards and just see Aviation in the forum title and figure that's where they should go. The same happens in train and rail systems and bus enthusiasts. A pointer to the right forum or just report it will do the job, no need for a flame war over it.

Probably the biggest change in the last couple of years is the reduction in civility. Points can be made without personal attacks,it's frustrating to see people who should know better behaving like 15 year olds on 4chan and dishing out insults. It weakens your argument and tbh makes you look childish.

Anyways, I didn't want to have a moan or a rant. I'll still be here posting away occasionally and doing my best not to annoy Tenger and Andy_g. :)

And said thread is being looked into by myself, and as im out of the country at the moment that is not possible. I have read the first few pages and still need to finish it for now.

Its certainly not easy modding this forum, or any other. So all the best LL! I totally agree with your points. Its hard find the balance between too light and too hard a touch, and takes up more time dealing with stuff then people realize, especially sorting out disputes and reported posts.
