    Hi folks

What exact function does the compensation tube on a gas valve do? Is it something to do with the pressure differential between the gas valve and burner?

How does this work? And is the pressure differential very minimal? Would this pressure differential be critical to the boilers operation if the compensation tube was blocked for whatever reason.

I'm just being noisy and want to understand it operation

It would depend on which gas valve is at the end of it, spot rated, modulating or zero governor.
But in general terms it would be either to give a null/set value behind a diaphragm or in the zero governor can be used to open the a valve where the solenoid is under power.

Really this would be information for RGI's, and wouldn't be a discussion for this public forum.
If you are RGI, then you can submit a request to the mods of this site for access to RGI tech forum.
