Heat resistant plaster cracking

    Hi

I am close to finishing a new build and have a double sided inset stove. The contractor used heat resistant plaster as we and the stove guidelines instructed around the stove over the fire retardant plaster board. Once it dried it looked a bit off, dark with white patches. It's now started to crack and sounds hollow to knock on.

Any ideas on what's happening or has anyone seen this before?

    Thanks
