SPD Cleat coming loose when unclipping!

    Just got a new pair of MTB shoes (Aldi) and bought some Boardman SPD compatible cleats. I have Shimano cleats in another pair of Aldi shoes and no problems.

    Basically, even though the new cleats are fully tightened, after clipping out the Cleat has moved!

    Any idea?

    Tighten them more and even use a drop of thread-lock and leave it to 'set' for a few hours before use.

    Wouldn't agree with that! Shouldn't have to excessively tighten them and definitely no need for thread lock. Over-tightening can also risk 'ringing' the bolt heads especially when trying to remove them.

    It seems to me that the bolts in the Boardman cleats are too long. Were they supplied with a metal plate for the inside of the shoe?

    Try fitting the Shimano cleats from your other shoes.

    They came with plates pictured here:http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/images/products/medium/24004.jpg - the silver plate. Should I try that?

    Sure you've nothing to lose!

    (Have only ever used Shimano ones myself and never had any issues).
