Spanish Air Controller Strike Sept 26 & Oct 3rd

Spanish air traffic controllers called for strike to take place on September 26 and on October 03. The strikes are scheduled to be held between 06.00am and 06.00pm local time.
In case of a strike, major air traffic disruptions are to be expected. Delays and flight cancellations are likely. Before and after official strike hours, disruptions are also possible due to organisational reasons. Passengers are advised to contact their airline or tour operator about the current flight status in advance to their journey to the airport and should schedule additional time for their journey

Anyone have any experience of how this kind of thing affects flights? Ryanair have just said that the flight is listed ok but they'll let me know if it's cancelled. Hardly reassuring.

Generally in my experience the airline won't make a call on it until very close to the day of departure. I presume this is done so they don't spend extra resources rescheduling people with the possibility that the strike could be called off. I'd keep an eye on the news and keep in contact with the airline in question.

Spanish atc had a number of strikes earlier in the year which caused minimal disruptions. Some delays but no cancellations as far as I remember. Was travelling around the time so was keeping an eye on it.
Reason for so little disruption was to do with a minimum level of service demanded by the Spanish government. Think it was 80% but in reality it meant no real impact on flights. Although these seem to be longer stoppages this time.

The airlines will only have a clear picture the day before the strike, because it is then that they will be informed by Spanish ATC of how many flights they will be allowed operate.

It may well be that there will be minimal disruption, but no one can tell you that at this stage.

Unfortunately it does mean that anyone travelling on those dates will have to just sit tight and wait until the airline gets in touch.

No, I happened to come across people discussing it on a TripAdvisor Forum. I googled 'Spanish air control strike' and found numerous articles listing the dates. I think I should be fine as I'm flying from Dublin and there will be other flights at some stage, am just concerned as the rest of my group are flying from knock where there is only one flight a week!

Previous times there has been very little if any delay, half an hour or less.

I flew out on the 25th July during the middle of a strike. Our flight landed 10mins early at Palma and most people wouldn't have known about the strike. Capacity is reduced to 80%, but I'd imagine the capacity is a bit higher than the current traffic so there's not much disruption.
