    Hi all,

I have 10k that I would like to invest and get some return on.

I have looked at property at home (Cavan) which is quite cheap and has a decent rental market at the moment.

Would I be wise it invest in a buy-to-let property or just throw the cash into a savings account?

    Any advice welcome

savings will give you a return of below 2%

ten grand isnt very much to invest in property but you could invest in a REIT which allows you invest in a property fund , return should be around 4% and you have your money in quality residential and commercial property in dublin

    google irish REITS

Brilliant, thanks. Property wise, there are apartments available for approximately 50-60k which a decent rental yield and plan would be to have a 10 year mortgage.

    I'll definitely look into REITS

so thats a forty grand mortgage over ten years shall we say @ 5% ( doubt you get cheaper than that for an investment property )

aib will cost you 425 per month for ten years , doubt you get 500 per month in rent for an apartment in cavan , for investment property in locations like that , you need to be a cash buyer IMO

id much rather invest in vodafone or shell or bp stocks which pay nearly 6% of a dividend and are not going to go out of business anytime soon
