Hi I have recently got my license restored 4 years into a 6 year driving ban for drink driving. I have a provisional license and no NCB and I can't seem to get anyone to insure me. Does anyone know any company's that would ,, even if the cover wasn't great it would be ok until I build up my NCB again. Thank you

I would try a broker as they would know which insurance companies to try.

Ya a broker is the best bet I think and hopefully you will get sorted.

I'd say your fairly screwed to be honest, in work I'm told not to even continue with a quote after a ban that long for drink driving is disclosed. Best bet is to go down the refusal route, three letters of refusal and you'll get a quote either from the first one that refused you or your previous insurer all them years ago.

A guy I used to know (deffo not me) a few years back got his licence back after his second drink driving conviction. From what I remember he got insurance through First Ireland brokers.
It wasnt even in the vicinity of cheap but he got covered!

If you are declined or priced out of it you can contact the Declined Cases Committee who will arrange a quote.

It won't help your case that you only have a learner permit, you might have a better chance if you pass your driving test first even if that means using an instructor's car.

Do you think it might be possible to get your test passed on the strength of your experience? Maybe using a school car? It can't hurt.

Agree, pass your test and see if you can find a broker to offer you cover.

You are probably looking at mega money though
