What does one wear to a christening in October? I don't really know the people, I'm going as a guest with a friend. Since it's one of those events where I won't know anyone I have no clue what to wear! They're hard to dress for at the best of times never mind when you're trying to keep it casual but dressy.

Can't go wrong with a simple shift dress, jacket and heels. Pick any colour dress really.

Or cigarette pants with pointed court shoes and a really nice blouse, tucked into the waist-band of said pants, perhaps?
    Like maybe a luxe fabric?

    Frankly anything smart-ish would do.
